We just celebrated our first graduating class at Johnson & Wales Charlotte yesterday, and the students have all gone off for the summer or onto their careers. It was a banner day for all of us and I'm very excited for the graduates and for the university itself. Meanwhile, I'll be away for the next week at my MFA Creative Writing Residency, so there won't be any new recipes till I get back. Let's all take a little break from mashes and such (unless you want to keep tweaking on your own, which is fine with me--some of your discoveries have been very helpful). When I return I'd like to get into some rye breads with you.
A few of you have asked if I could post pictures of the various steps and stages. A great idea but when my Nikon CoolPix died last year I was so upset that I never replaced it. Some of you have sent great photos of your projects--successes and failures--and if I can figure out how to import them to this blog I may, with your individual permission, run them. I'm still a duffer when it comes to utilizing the full potential of blogs, but I'll get it figured out sooner or later.
The rest of the summer will be focused on finishing the text for the new book as well as continued testing (the testing will go on right until the final printing deadline, sometime next year, so lots more to come).
I'll be back in a week. Till then, may your bread always rise!
